Couple charged with assault

A husband and wife appeared in court on Monday charged with grievous bodily harm after a woman suffered 10 stab wounds in an incident in Langley on Saturday.

Sarah Scamp, from Rainham, is in hospital recovering from her injuries.

Police were called to a caravan home at Bramblewood, Pitt Road, Langley, on Saturday evening after reports of a disturbance.

Lorry driver Michael Poole, 27, and his wife Georgina, 28, have been released on bail by Maidstone magistrates. The case has been referred to Maidstone Crown Court, where a preliminary hearing will take place on January 19.

As a condition of their bail magistrates ordered that they should live at a different address. An order under the Contempt of Court Act was made that the location remain secret. They were also ordered to be electronically tagged, abide by a curfew from 8pm to 4am and not to contact the victim.
